A guide to assessing the credibility and generalizability of reports about sexual and gender minorities
The following questions can be used to assess the degree to which you can trust the findings of research reports: 1. Who produced the report and why? 2. Who funded the research? 3. Who has vetted the report? 4. What data source(s) is the report is based upon? 5. What methods were used to collect data? 6. Are there reasons to question the validity of findings? sample size? attrition? history? validity of outcome measures? 7. How was sexual and gender minority status determined? 8. Can the findings be generalized to sexual and gender minorities?
